In case you missed it, Caregiving Advice is now on Spotify!
Our “Forget-Me-Not” playlist is chock-full of popular songs from generations past and present, and created for anyone who is experiencing memory loss—though it can certainly be enjoyed by anyone who loves singing along to familiar songs!
Music is an incredibly powerful tool for bringing memories back. This first playlist was inspired by my grandmother, who began singing songs from her childhood—such as Twinkle Twinkle Little Star—when she began struggling with dementia. Hearing this song seemed to comfort and soothe her, so I tried to find more that she would remember. This playlist is a compilation of those—all together in one place for the convenience of the busy caregiver.
Next up, a playlist called “Exhale Autumn.” This collection of songs gives us all the autumn-y feelings. If you’re not ready to go into full winter mode yet, heat up some cider, snuggle up in a flannel, and listen to these songs that remind us of crisp breezes and sunlight filtering through golden leaves.
If you’re so over autumn, you will be happy to hear that we also have two winter playlists!
First is our “Holiday Hype” playlist, complete with all the holiday classics to which you grew up listening, plus some groovy new twists on those favored originals. Play these while wrapping presents, driving around for those last-minute gifts, or while you’re hiding from your *adulting* responsibilities.
Our second winter mix is for when the cold is no longer charming. Think of it as a confetti of songs for your jittering teeth to dance with!
Our last playlist is a library of our favorite caregiving podcasts, perfect to plug in and listen to at the gym, while you’re folding laundry, driving a distance, or just relaxing in the tub. Check out our list for your favorites and let us know what to add: we love recommendations from our caregiving readers!
All of our playlists are available to the public on Spotify, so make sure to follow them! Music is a powerful resource to keep in your caregiving tool belt, so keep our curated-with-care playlists at hand.
